About the event

The Sutherland Shire Heritage Festival will take place from April 28th to May 18th this year. It is organized in collaboration with the National Trust of Australia and supported by the Sutherland Shire Council. This year's theme is "unearthed revealing the past, bringing to light lesser-known histories and stories, and unearthing knowledge to empower younger generations as custodians of culture and tradition."

On the 3rd of May, Sutherland Shire Reconciliation will set up a display table at the festival at Woronora Memorial Park, offering resources and information about our efforts to promote reconciliation. We will hold a yarning circle where we will use coloured threads to weave and braid wristbands in the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags.

Sutherland Shire Reconciliation acknowledges the Dharawal language speaking people of the Gweagal and Norongerragal clans, as the traditional custodians of the lands within the Sutherland Shire. We are grateful for their immemorial care of the lands and waterways on which we live and work.
